Introducing Louise Hall Fine Art
I find inspiration all around me in the Lowcountry of South Carolina... from its beautiful beaches whose environment changes daily with the tides, to the marine life in its oceans and rivers, and the clouds in the breeze that flows through the native palm and oak trees.
Each piece in this collection is a blend of imagination and observation, using vibrant colors and dynamic shapes that evoke fluidity and movement.
My technique involves painting on then painting off each color in vigorous strokes which produces a mix of transparent color and opaque lines. The pigments gather together when the lines are formed which gives them a nice sheen, as well as interesting texture. Layers of this process create a mesmerizing effect and blending of color. I prefer a minimal palette, and the creation of variations of the each color using black and white.
Louise is an Atlanta native, but has resided in the South Carolina Lowcountry for over 30 years. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from Georgia Southern University with extensive studies in painting, printmaking and sculpture. After college, Louise continued her sculpture studies at the University of Georgia studies abroad program in Cortona, Itlay.
Louise’s background is in graphic design, custom illustration and color theory, which is a large influence in her paintings.
